Lenten Devo

For Lent I'm going to be more intentional about my quiet times.  Some of the things that Pastor Eric shared on Sunday hit me between the eyes, and so it is time for some more discipline.

I'm going to start using the awesome Created to Connect Study Guide as my guide (you can download a free copy!).  It takes the principles taught in Connected Child and brings out the Biblical truths.  I'm pretty excited about it!

...
Thoughts from today's study...
The past affects the future...but doesn't have to determine it.

"His love for us made tangible in practical ways...our parenting must also make our love for our children tangible..."

"The question is not whether hope is important in our lives, but rather what exactly is hope and how can we find it."

...
Outside of the study guide...

Ephesians 1:5
"In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will."

It all comes back to his love...because he loved us, we were set free...because he loved us we are adopted as his sons and daughters...because he loves us, his love, grace, and mercy are made new each day...all because of his love!

Further down the page (in Ephesians) in verse 18,  I have circled the world "hope":

"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope which he has called you..."

Because of his love he has adopted us - we are no longer orphans - and because of his love we have hope.

What more could we need?
